I provide design leadership support for architecture and design firms, from startups to global practices. Typical engagements include:
Leadership diagnostics and partner alignment
Positioning and practice narrative
Pursuit strategy and shortlist interview readiness
Decision-making systems for pursuits, thought leadership and communications
Training and workshops for partners and emerging leaders
Fractional Head of Design Leadership for sustained implementation
Special projects involving the curation of publications, policy statements, storyboards and videos.
What I don’t do: media pitching, press office services, crisis PR, or journalist outreach.

The simplest start is a short call to understand your context and goals. From there, I’ll recommend a best-fit path, often:
Diagnostic (quick clarity + 90-day priorities), or
Charrette (on positioning/narrative), or
Pursuit support for a specific opportunity, or
Fractional Leadership (min. 90-day retainer) if you need implementation cadence.
If you reach out, include your timeline, team size, and what success looks like in the next 90 days.

I’m a licensed architect with over 25 years of experience spanning practice, publishing, advocacy, procurement, and professional leadership. I have worked and lived in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Singapore, with experience working across the globe. I was the editor of Canadian Architect magazine for nearly 10 years, the Executive Director of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and led continuing education programs for several international design expos. I have also taught at several architectural schools, sat on various urban committees, and continue to advise municipalities. I work at the intersection of:
design excellence and organizational reality
story and systems (narrative that’s supported by decision-making and follow-through)
culture and performance (alignment that shows up in pursuits and delivery)
I don’t sell hype. I help practices build clarity, momentum, and repeatable leadership habits.

Most work is structured to be clear and predictable:
Fixed-fee packages for diagnostics and workshops.
Project-based fees are charged hourly for pursuits and shortlist support (scope depends on timeline and complexity).
Retainers for monthly diagnostics and consulting services.
Retainers for the Fractional Head of Design Leadership engagement (min. 90 days).
When we speak, I’ll propose a scope that matches your needs and capacity, with clear deliverables and timelines.

Straightforward, practical, and tailored to your studio’s reality.
You can expect:
an early focus on clarity (what matters most, what to stop doing, what to decide)
collaborative work with partners and key staff
tools you can actually reuse: story frameworks, templates, decisions based on honed methodology for your practice, and messaging guidance
a bias toward implementation and coaching
The aim is to build professional momentum to shape your firm’s culture, driving stronger pursuits and better internal alignment.
